Our Last Week:
We had another really fun week of Kindergarten! This week we worked more on our “All About Me” page and read a few stories about what makes us all unique. Instead of starting our JumpMath workbooks, we worked on graphing different features about ourselves like the different colours of our hair and the colours of our eyes and hence linked our Social Studies Unit into our Math Unit. We finished our writing strokes booklet and sent it home for you to look at. In Music, we have been learning about creating beats with Mrs. Gibson.
On Friday, the morning students got to start on our Kindness Unit. We read the book “Love You When” by Linda Kranz and painted a rock each. Our goal is to take these special rocks, once they are painted, and spread them around the school for someone else to find and bring a little joy to their day.
September 21-25
This week we are excited to delve a little more into our Science topic on apples and will learn the different parts of an apple as well as do a sink/float experiment. We will also start our JumpMath workbooks and work on counting numbers 1-5. We will send home the pages we work on for you to check and review and practice more with your child.
We will also start going outside every day for 10-20 minutes. We will learn Covid-friendly games to play or just enjoy some outside free-time and fresh air. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather every day.
Our Terry Fox Run will take place this Wednesday. Your child is welcome to wear red for our Canadian hero, Terry. We will be collecting toonies for Terry as well to donate.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
This year, our parent-teacher conferences will be done over the phone. Your child’s teacher will be phoning you in the 15-minute time slot you choose and discuss how your child is adjusting to Kindergarten. Please use your MyCBE account to log in. Should you have any issues with the process please call our office for assistance.
This is a chance for us to get to know each other and bring up any issues that need to be discussed in order to help your child be successful. Mrs. Legere’s conferences (am & pm classes) will be on September 24th and 25 th and Mrs. Isaak’s conferences (am class) will be on September 24th.
